FAQs

  • Nope - one of the benefits of choosing a counsellor or psychotherapist is that there is no need to visit a GP first; we’re ready when you are!

  • While they are closely related, there are some key differences between the two.

Counselling focuses more on short-term specific issues, and developing coping strategies to manage them. You may see a counsellor when facing distress that’s more situational such as grieving over a loved one, relationship issues, or academic and work stress.

Psychotherapy involves longer term exploration of psychological patterns or trauma, especially when it disrupts daily life or relationships. This may be more suitable when working with PTSD, chronic anxiety or depression, or personality disorders.
